In order to adapt to the expansion of the school scale, the school actively responded to the strategic deployment of the country to speed up the development and opening up of Binhai New Area and the call of the municipal party committee and the municipal government to actively introduce higher education in Binhai New Area. 200111on March 3rd, 2006, the school signed the Cooperation Agreement between Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone and Tianjin Institute of Light Industry with the management committee of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone.
According to the agreement, the development zone will allocate 872 mu of educational land in the college area of Northwest University (bordering 13th Street in the south, Donghai Road in the north, Huanghai Road in the east and Dongting Road in the west) to our school to build an "ecological, international and open" Tianjin University of Science and Technology Binhai Campus.
On September 8, 2004, the first phase of Binhai Campus was completed and put into use, and Tianjin University of Science and Technology became the only fully-established undergraduate university in Binhai New Area.
