Jinan University is a comprehensive university approved by Shandong Provincial People's Government and Ministry of Education. It is a key construction university in Shandong Province, the first batch of famous schools in Shandong Province to train applied talents, the "excellent engineer education and training plan" of the Ministry of Education, and a "first-class" construction university in Shandong Province.

Jinan University, formerly known as Shandong Institute of Building Materials Industry, was founded in 1948. From June 5438 to October 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Shandong Institute of Building Materials Industry and Jinan United University merged to form Jinan University.

In April of 20001year, the former Jinan Civil Affairs School of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the former Shandong Materials School merged into Jinan University. From June 5438 to February 2007, the authorized discipline of master's degree of Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences was merged into Jinan University.

From June, 5438 to February, 2007, with the decision of Shandong Provincial People's Government and the approval of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and Ministry of Education, the master's authorized discipline of Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences was merged into Jinan University, and the integration of science and education was implemented.

In 20 12, the school became the first batch of famous schools in Shandong province to train applied talents.

20 13, Jinan University became a comprehensive university jointly established by Shandong Provincial People's Government and Ministry of Education.

On October 20 17 10, the school became the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education. In August, it was selected as "11plan".
