I. Historical development of the College

1988 In the autumn, Tongji University's "Mechanical Design and Manufacturing" major (automobile direction) officially enrolled students nationwide; 1990 was granted the right to confer a master's degree; 1996 was awarded as a key discipline in Shanghai; 1998 was awarded the right of doctor's degree; In 2000, Tongji University established Automobile College to provide all-round services for pillar industries in Shanghai with new thinking and new system, and was formally established as an independent college on April 28, 2002.

Second, the current college discipline development

There are 63 teachers in the college, including full-time senior teacher 18 (doctoral supervisor1person), deputy senior teacher 16 and intermediate teacher 13. The college consists of Volkswagen-Tongji Automobile Research Institute, Automobile Marketing Management Research Institute and six other engineering centers cooperating with SAIC. In addition, there are research institutes of automobile vibration and noise, etc. 1 1 professional research institutes. The College has extensive scientific research cooperation, academic exchanges and personnel exchanges with governments, universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises in German, Austrian, American, Italian, Dutch and other countries, as well as China, Hongkong and Taiwan Province Province of China.

Interdisciplinary: Taking advantage of Tongji University's comprehensive disciplinary advantages, vehicle engineering has formed a wide cooperation network with mechanical engineering, industrial art design, wind engineering, energy and power engineering, environmental engineering, material engineering, electronic engineering, control engineering and other disciplines, which has promoted the development of the discipline. In addition, the concept of interdisciplinary communication has also been greatly integrated in new disciplines such as automobile marketing management and logistics management.

Industry-University Cooperation: The College has been keeping close contact with the automobile industry, and has jointly established a training workstation for engineering graduate students with a number of large and medium-sized enterprises, and held many advanced seminars for automobile industry enterprises, scientific research institutions, government management institutions and universities every year.

International cooperation: extensive cooperation and exchanges with Germany, Japan, France, the United States and other developed countries in the automobile industry in joint scientific research, academic seminars, exchange of scholars and interns, and participation in international automobile competitions.

At present, the college has a first-class postdoctoral mobile station in mechanical engineering, a first-class postdoctoral mobile station in management engineering, a doctoral program in vehicle engineering, a master program in vehicle engineering, a master program in power machinery and engineering, and a doctoral program. The college has five undergraduate majors: automobile design, automobile electronics, automobile engine, automobile information and logistics, and automobile marketing. There are two master's degree awarding points and two doctoral degree awarding points in vehicle engineering and power machinery engineering. There are 852 full-time undergraduates, graduate students 19 1 person, 39 doctoral students and postdoctoral students 1 1 person.

Third, training methods.

Bilingual (English+German) teaching is implemented for undergraduate majors, and the fourth grade is divided into different classes. Through examination and selection, some students entered the six-and-a-half-year academic system (that is, the "4+2.5" model) and were awarded master's degrees in engineering after graduation. Postgraduates of this college can carry out Sino-German cooperative training in Sino-German colleges and universities, and after graduation, they can obtain the qualification of directly studying for doctoral degree in Germany.

Facing the needs of society and enterprises, Automotive College has gradually clarified the training methods and concepts for students, so that college graduates can successfully find the winners in the job market under the increasingly fierce employment form. In recent years, the average annual employment rate of college graduates (including postgraduate entrance examination and going abroad) has reached more than 95%. Judging from the current employment situation of the college, this training mode can not only complete students' learning and mastering of scientific knowledge, but also greatly consider and meet the needs of society, and has achieved good social benefits and been recognized by society and students.

The college actively participated in scientific research in the industry, and successively completed a large number of scientific research tasks, with an average annual research funding of nearly 40 million yuan. As the chief scientist, President Wan Gang undertook the key task of "Fuel Cell Vehicle", a major project of the National Tenth Five-Year High-tech Research and Development Plan (863 Plan). At present, it has made a major breakthrough and become a leader in the research of energy-saving vehicles in China.

Fourth, the planning and development prospects of the college

In order to meet the opportunities and challenges brought by China's entry into WTO, open up new economic growth points and promote the sustainable development of the automobile industry, in 200 1 year, Shanghai decided to build an international automobile city with the functions of automobile R&D, manufacturing, commerce, logistics, service, science and technology exhibition and cultural tourism, and decided to locate Tongji Automobile College in the automobile city. Relying on the advantages of foreign exchange, under the situation of facing the future, the forefront of science and technology and the great development of China's automobile industry, the Automobile Institute was established on the basis of the former Automobile Engineering Department, the New Energy Automobile Engineering Center and the Automobile Marketing Management College. This is a brand-new and dynamic college. Tongji University Automobile College is and will become one of the important bases for China's automobile industry to cultivate high-level talents, carry out scientific and technological innovation and provide technical services.

The discipline of automobile engineering in our school has two main advantages: first, the education level and scientific and technological strength are leading in China, bearing the pillar industries of the national economy, integrating into the mainstream of automobile science and technology development at home and abroad, and serving the main battlefield of rejuvenating the country through science and education; Second, the combination of production and learning has excellent prospects for rapid development and outstanding disciplinary driving role.

Jiading Campus, which is under construction, will provide the best engineering center and test equipment for Automotive College in China, and start to build a trial production base of 20,000 square meters, with an investment of more than 200 million yuan. And plans to build the first rail transit test line in Shanghai. A "Shanghai ground vehicle wind tunnel laboratory" with an investment of more than 400 million yuan is also under planning, and so is the automobile wind tunnel laboratory. The overall goal of the college is to build a high-starting, international and open college, and provide a steady stream of engineering, marketing management talents and technical support for the construction and development of Shanghai International Automobile City and even the national automobile industry.

The overall goal of discipline construction is to take automobile dynamics, automobile power system and advanced automobile design as the main disciplines, comprehensively strengthen discipline construction, base construction and teacher team construction, speed up the improvement of academic level of teaching and scientific research, provide strong support for China to improve the independent design and development ability of automobile products as soon as possible in the aspects of senior specialized personnel training and scientific and technological research, and maintain the leading position of similar disciplines in China at a higher level. Reach the international advanced level in some important aspects, develop Tongji University's advanced automobile design technology, application technology and manufacturing technology disciplines with the discipline of automobile engineering as the leading factor, and continuously improve Tongji's influence and scope in the automobile industry, scientific and technological circles and government departments.
