The National University of the Philippines is the first university established by the Philippine legislature. Founded in 1908, it was originally composed of three colleges: Academy of Fine Arts, College of Arts, and Academy of Internal and External Sciences. Its purpose is to provide higher education in literature, philosophy, science and art, and to train students' professional knowledge and technology.

After a century of development, the National University of the Philippines has become a "knowledge center". Here, knowledge refers to foresight and care for the next generation. Every student who has studied here will try his best to work hard for the future development of mankind and create a better future together.

In order to improve the educational environment and accommodate more and more universities, in February 1949, the management and administration center was moved from the original Manila campus to the new Diliman campus in Quezon City, which covers an area of 493 acres. It not only provides 94 research institutes and bachelor's programs, but also has many important academic research centers on campus. It is the flagship campus of the National University of the Philippines.
