Fu Jen Catholic University, founded in 1927, was once known as the four famous universities in Peiping together with Peking University, Tsinghua and Yanjing. This is a Catholic university founded by the Roman Catholic Church. 1952 Nine departments of Fu Jen Catholic University: Chinese, Spanish, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, History, Biology, Education and Psychology were merged into Beijing Normal University and became a part of it now. 1952 Mr. Chen Yuan, President of Fu Jen Catholic University, became President of Beijing Normal University.
