Zhang Rong, male,1born in February 1964, born in party member,1joined the work in July 1986. He graduated from Nanjing University and is a doctoral student majoring in semiconductors. He used to be deputy secretary, vice president and executive vice president of the Party Committee of Nanjing University, and served as president (deputy minister level) and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong University from 20 13 to 10.

20 17 On July 26th, the State Council appointed Sun Qixin as the president of China Agricultural University; Appointed Fan Liming (female) as the president of Shandong University (deputy minister level); Zhang Rong was appointed President of Xiamen University. Liu Zhenmin was removed from the post of Deputy Foreign Minister; Ke Bingsheng was removed from the post of President of China Agricultural University; Sun Qixin was removed from the post of president of Northwest A&F University; Zhang Rong was removed from the post of president of Shandong University; Zhu Chongshi was relieved from the post of President of Xiamen University.

Zhang Rong has been committed to the growth of semiconductor materials, new semiconductor materials, devices and physics with photoelectric information function for a long time. He has presided over more than ten national and local major research projects such as the National "973" Plan, the "863" Plan and the National Natural Science Foundation's major projects, and made a series of major innovations in new low-dimensional quantum structures and devices, especially in group III nitride heterostructures and devices, silicon-based heterostructures, nanostructures and devices, and wide-band gap semiconductor spintronics.
