Organic chemistry is a basic course for chemistry majors, which is closely related to society and life, and is also oriented to life science, environmental science, medicine, biophysics and other fields. For chemistry, organic chemistry has always been a very important course among the four basic courses. Due to the development of interdisciplinary subjects, traditional inorganic chemistry also needs more and more knowledge of organic chemistry. Using organic ligands, bioinorganic and inorganic coordination chemistry are closely related to organic chemistry. Organic chemistry also plays an important role in materials, chemical industry and other fields, which makes traditional analytical chemistry, physical chemistry and catalysis more and more close to organic chemistry or require organic chemistry knowledge. Since the founding of New China, the late famous organic chemist Professor Gao Zhenheng, the famous metalorganic chemist Professor Wang, and professors Guo Shouqian, Zhou Xiuzhong, Tang Shixiong, Hu, Zhang Baoshen and others have given lectures successively. At present, the teaching teachers of organic chemistry in chemistry major are Professor Zhang Baoshen, Professor Wang Baiquan, Professor Qu Jin, Professor Tang and Associate Professor Pang Meili. The lecturers are nearly 300 undergraduates majoring in chemistry, material chemistry and molecular engineering. The teaching period is 106 class hours, which is divided into two semesters.
The textbook of organic chemistry for chemistry majors is Organic Chemistry edited by Wang, Hu, Zhang Baoshen and Professor. Since the publication of 1993, the textbook has been printed for eight times, with a cumulative distribution of more than 20,000 copies. 1995 was rated as an excellent textbook of Nankai University. As the main textbook of organic chemistry in our school, it has been widely praised by our students and has a certain influence in other universities in China. For example, Yangzhou University, Tianjin Normal University, Hunan Normal University, Hebei University, Tianjin University of Technology and other institutions have used this book as a teaching material or designated reference book for many years, and the teachers and students concerned have highly praised it. In order to adapt to the development of education in the 2 1 century, the book was revised from 200 1 and published in the second edition in 2004. At the same time, organic chemistry exercises (edited by Zhang Baoshen and Pang Meili) and organic chemistry learning guide (edited by Zhang Baoshen and Pang Meili) were published in 2004, forming a complete set of organic chemistry learning packages.

Therefore, the organic chemistry curriculum group also undertakes the teaching of organic chemistry for non-chemistry majors in relevant departments. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, Professor Wang Changfeng, Professor Cao Yurong and Professor How have taught organic chemistry to non-chemistry majors. At present, the teaching teachers of organic chemistry for non-chemistry majors are: Professor Cao Yurong, Professor, Professor He, Associate Professor Xu, Associate Professor and Lecturer Han Jie. The lecturers are nearly 500 students from School of Life Sciences, School of Environmental Sciences, School of Physics, School of Medicine, Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Harbin Medical University and Hebei Medical University, as well as nearly 500 students from School of Chemistry of Nankai University, who started enrolling students in 2005. The teaching time is 72 hours.
The textbook used in the course of organic chemistry for non-chemistry majors is Organic Chemistry written by Professor Wang Xiaolan, which is aimed at non-biochemical majors in the biology department of science colleges. The textbook has been published in the fourth edition from 1979 to 2005, and the total print run of the first three editions is about 750,000 copies. The first edition won the second prize 1988, the second edition won the national excellent prize 1992, and the third edition won the first prize of scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Education in 2000. The three versions also won the first prize of 200 1 Tianjin teaching achievement. At the same time, Examples and Exercises of Organic Chemistry edited by Wang Changfeng and Cao Yurong have also been published in the second edition, with a cumulative distribution of 1.6 million copies, which is a very popular reference book for organic chemistry among students.

Since 1999, organic chemistry has been rated as "National Science Base Building Famous-brand Curriculum Project" for three times by the Ministry of Education, and in 2003, it was rated as Building Famous-brand Excellent Curriculum. In 2005, Organic Chemistry was awarded as "Model Excellent Course of Nankai University". There are three key disciplines of chemistry in Nankai University: organic chemistry, pesticide science and polymer chemistry, and the State Key Laboratory of Elemental Organic Chemistry, whose most basic and important basic course is organic chemistry. Nankai University ranks among the best in chemistry in China, while organic chemistry and related pesticide science ranks first in universities, which is closely related to the teaching of basic courses of organic chemistry.

The main teaching methods of this course are: classroom teaching, classroom discussion, students' self-study, examination and so on. In teaching, molecular model and computer-aided teaching methods are used to enhance the intuition of teaching and make students have a deeper understanding and mastery of knowledge. For the organic chemistry of chemistry major, students should be arranged and instructed to choose and write teaching papers every academic year in order to expand their knowledge and improve their innovation ability.
