Gansu Provincial Department of Education is the government department in charge of education in Gansu Province.

According to the Notice of the General Office of the Central Committee of the CPC, General Office of the State Council on Printing and Distributing the Institutional Reform Plan of Gansu Provincial People's Government (Z.F. [2009]16) and the Notice of Gansu Provincial People's Government of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Printing and Distributing the Implementation Opinions on the Institutional Reform of Gansu Provincial People's Government (Z.F. [2009] No.9), Gansu was established.

Main responsibilities:

(a) the implementation of the party and the state's educational principles, policies and regulations, formulate local education laws and regulations and supervise their implementation.

(II) To be responsible for the overall planning and coordinated management of all levels and types of education in the province, formulate standards for setting up local schools at all levels and types in conjunction with relevant departments, guide the education and teaching reform of all levels and types of schools in the province, and be responsible for the statistics, analysis and release of basic education information.

(three) responsible for promoting the balanced development of compulsory education and promoting education equity, responsible for the macro guidance and coordination of compulsory education, and guiding the work of ordinary high school education, preschool education and special education. Formulate the basic requirements and teaching documents of basic education and fully implement quality education.

(four) to guide the education supervision work in the province, to be responsible for organizing and guiding the supervision, inspection, evaluation and acceptance of secondary and below secondary education and youth literacy, and to guide the monitoring of the development level and quality of basic education.

(five) to guide the development and reform of employment-oriented vocational education, to be responsible for the professional setting, teaching guidance and teaching evaluation of secondary vocational education, and to guide the construction of teaching materials and vocational guidance of secondary vocational education.

(six) to guide the development and reform of higher education, and to be responsible for the professional setting and teaching guidance of higher education. , in conjunction with the relevant departments to review the establishment, renaming, cancellation and adjustment of institutions of higher learning, co-ordinate and guide all kinds of higher education and continuing education, and guide and improve the evaluation of higher education.

(seven) responsible for the overall management of education funds in this department, to participate in the formulation of the province's education funds, education funding, education infrastructure investment policies, and to be responsible for the statistics of the province's education funds.

(eight) to coordinate and guide the education of ethnic minorities and coordinate the educational assistance to ethnic minorities and ethnic minority areas.

(nine) to guide the ideological and political work, moral education, sports health art education and national defense education in schools at all levels.

(ten) in charge of the work of teachers in the province, in conjunction with the relevant departments to guide the implementation of the teacher qualification system, and guide the construction of the talent team in the education system.

(11) To be responsible for the enrollment of all kinds of higher education and secondary specialized education and the management of academic qualifications, formulate enrollment plans for colleges and secondary specialized schools in conjunction with relevant departments, participate in the formulation of employment policies for graduates of ordinary colleges and universities, guide ordinary colleges and universities to carry out employment and entrepreneurship for college students, and organize the implementation of employment guidance and services for graduates of ordinary colleges and universities in the province before leaving school.

(12) plan and guide the research of natural science, philosophy and social science in colleges and universities, coordinate and guide colleges and universities to participate in the construction of national innovation system and undertake the implementation of various scientific and technological plans such as national and provincial major scientific and technological projects, guide the development and construction of scientific and technological innovation platforms in colleges and universities, and guide the integration of educational informatization and Industry-University-Research.

(thirteen) to organize and guide the international exchanges and cooperation in education in the province, to be responsible for studying abroad, studying in China, running schools in cooperation with foreign countries and managing schools for foreigners' children, to guide the international promotion of Chinese, and to carry out educational cooperation and exchanges with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

(fourteen) to formulate policies and plans for the work of language and writing in the province, to be responsible for the supervision and management of the norms and standards of Chinese and minority languages, and to guide the promotion of Putonghua and the training of Putonghua teachers.

(fifteen) overall management of the province's degree work, responsible for the implementation of the national degree system.

(sixteen) to undertake other tasks assigned by the provincial party committee, the provincial government and the Ministry of education.
