Inner Mongolia University for Nationalities is two universities.
Hohhot University for Nationalities is a key university in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, approved by the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission.
Founded in 1953, the school is the earliest ethnic college in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 2000, Inner Mongolia Mongolian College merged with Inner Mongolia Normal School for Nationalities to form Inner Mongolia Institute for Nationalities. In 2009, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to Hohhot Institute for Nationalities.
As of June, 20 19, the school has nearly 9,000 full-time students, 17 teaching units, 8 teaching auxiliary units, 37 undergraduate majors and 7 specialist majors, covering 8 disciplines such as economy, law, education, literature, science, engineering, management and art. At present, 26 undergraduate majors are mainly Mongolian and Chinese bilingual teaching.
