School of Software, School of Computer and Information Science, Southwest University has a long history, and it is one of the earliest units to carry out computer teaching and research in Southwest China. It has the right to award doctoral degrees in computer science and technology, post-doctoral mobile stations, master's degrees in software engineering, and master's degrees in electronic information and modern educational technology. Computer science and technology is a key discipline in Chongqing, and it entered the top of ESI global ranking in 20 19/2008.

College is the first batch of characteristic demonstration software colleges and newly-built secondary colleges in Chongqing, with four undergraduate majors: computer science and technology, software engineering, network engineering and automation. It has 8 scientific research platforms including national, provincial and ministerial key laboratories and engineering centers. In recent years, the college has presided over more than 50 national-level projects such as the National Science and Technology Support Plan and the key projects of the National Natural Fund, and more than 200 provincial-level and horizontal projects, and won 12 teaching and research awards at or above the provincial level.

The computer science and technology major of Southwest University 1984 began to enroll students, and 20 16 enrolled students from Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs. Computer Science and Technology Specialty 202 1 was approved as a national first-class undergraduate specialty construction site, and it is a characteristic specialty of big data intelligence in Chongqing.
