Harbin Forestry University, namely Northeast Forestry University, is located at No.26 Hexing Road, Xiangfang District, Harbin. Northeast Forestry University was founded in July, 1952, formerly known as Northeast Forestry College. It was established on the basis of the Forestry Department of Zhejiang University Agricultural College and the Forestry Department of Northeast Agricultural College, and was directly managed by the former State Forestry Department. /kloc-0 changed its name to Northeast Forestry University in August, 1985. In March 2000, it was placed under the direct management of the Ministry of Education by the State Forestry Administration.

Northeast Forestry University is the only university directly under the Ministry of Education in Heilongjiang Province. It is a national key university featuring forestry engineering and integrating agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, medicine and art. It is a national key construction institution of "2 1 1 Engineering" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" and a national "double-class".
