Heilongjiang University, located in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning organized by the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province. It is jointly established by the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province, People's Republic of China (PRC), the Ministry of Education and the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and has been selected into the National Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan, the Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities, the National Master's Degree University Construction Project and the Demonstration Base for Studying in China by the Ministry of Education.
The school was formerly known as the Russian Team of the Third Branch of China People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, 194 1 was founded in Yan 'an, and was later renamed the Russian Department of the Military Academy of the Central Military Commission, the Russian School of the Central Military Commission and the Yan 'an Foreign Language School. During the period of 1946, some leaders of Yan 'an Foreign Language School and teachers and students of Russian Department moved to the northeast, and later they were renamed as Foreign Language School affiliated to the Northeast Democratic Allied Command, Harbin Foreign Languages Institute, Harbin Foreign Languages Institute and Harbin Foreign Languages Institute; 1958 was renamed Heilongjiang university.
