Weston University was founded in 1878 by Bishop Isaac Helms and Bishop Huron Episcopal Church. It merged with Huron University College founded by 1863, which is one of the oldest universities in Canada and the founding institution of Weston University, Canada's top university.

University College of Huron was founded by Benjamin Cronin, the first bishop of Huron, and Isaac Hellmers, the executive director and president of Huron, on May 5th, 863. Among them, Isaac Hellmers is the founder of Huron College and the pioneer of Weston University.
