Shaanxi University of Science and Technology for short, located in xi City, Shaanxi Province, is the only multidisciplinary university with light industry characteristics in western China. The school is the first light industry institution of higher learning in People's Republic of China (PRC). 1958 was founded in Beijing, then named Beijing Institute of Light Industry. /kloc-moved to Xianyang, Shaanxi in 0/970 and changed its name to Northwest Institute of Light Industry. 1978 was identified by the State Council as one of the 88 key universities in China. /kloc-0 was transferred to Shaanxi province in 1998, and was renamed Shaanxi University of Science and Technology in 2002.
