1958, the whole department moved eastward to Wuxi and established Wuxi Institute of Light Industry. 1962 Wuxi Textile Vocational and Technical College merged into Wuxi Institute of Light Industry; 1995 was renamed Wuxi University of Light Industry. 200 1 Wuxi University of Light Industry, Jiangnan College and Wuxi Institute of Education merged to form Jiangnan University; In 2003, Donghua University Wuxi Campus was merged into Jiangnan University.
School predecessor
Wuxi University of Light Industry was formerly the Department of Food Industry of Nanjing Institute of Technology. Its school-running history can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School founded by 1902. After the development of National Central University and Nanjing University, it has the same ancestry with eight universities including Nanjing University, Southeast University, Nanjing Normal University, Hohai University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing Institute of Technology and Jiangsu University.
1952 The Department of Food Industry of Nanjing Institute of Technology (now Southeast University) was established by relevant departments of Nanjing University, Fudan University, Wuhan University, Zhejiang University and private Jiangnan University.
1958 August 18, Jiangsu Provincial People's Committee decided to move the Department of Food Industry of Nanjing Institute of Technology eastward to the former site of Yuan Hua Dongyi College in Wuxi, and named it Wuxi Institute of Food Industry, and later renamed it Wuxi Institute of Light Industry.
