Zhejiang Media College, formerly known as Zhejiang Radio and Television College, was founded in June 1984, and began to recruit students nationwide in June 1986. In May 2004, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of Zhejiang Media College.
The college is located in Hangzhou, which is known as "paradise on earth". At present, the new and old campuses of the college are located in Xiasha Higher Education Park on the Qiantang River and the ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The new and old campus covers an area of 859 mu with a total construction area of 406,400 square meters, of which the new campus covers an area of 786 mu with a construction area of 376,000 square meters. The campus has complete functions, elegant environment and strong modern atmosphere.
College is one of the two major bases for training media professionals such as radio, film and television in China, and is known as "Guangzhou in the north and Guangzhou in the south of Zhejiang". Since its establishment, it has sent a large number of professionals to TV stations and radio stations in central and local provinces, cities and autonomous regions, as well as TV stations and radio stations at city and county levels and social film and television production units.
The college now has 10 department, 1 secondary college and two teaching departments, including journalism and communication department, broadcasting host department, television art department, film and television production department, film and television literature department, electronic information department, international communication department, communication science and technology department, media management department, music and dance department, film and television animation college, social science department and public sports department. There are 27 undergraduate majors and directions of radio and television news and broadcasting host art, and there are 18 specialist majors and directions.
