The middle school affiliated to Changsha University was founded in 1963, and it is a national public boarding complete middle school in charge of Changsha University. In 2008, Changsha Municipal People's Government decided to build a new school.

The school has 56 high-standard classrooms, a modern high-standard science museum, teachers' reading room, students' reading room, voice teaching room, multi-functional conference hall, standardized 400-meter plastic track and field, plastic basketball court, badminton court, indoor basketball court and badminton court, as well as teaching facilities such as gym, ballroom, art room and piano room. The school has a student canteen that can accommodate 3000 people at the same time, as well as classrooms with complete functions and advanced equipment such as boiling water room, laundry room and bathroom.

The school currently has 0/72 teaching staff and 0/64 professional technicians, including 0/58 full-time teachers. Among the professional and technical personnel, there are 34 people with bachelor degree or above/kloc-0 (including 25 with postgraduate degree), 32 senior middle school teachers and 90 first-class middle school teachers.
