Wenzhou University is a key construction university and doctoral degree awarding unit in Zhejiang Province. It is located in Wenzhou, a famous historical and cultural city in China and known as "the best landscape in Southeast China".

The school was formed in 2004 by the merger of Wenzhou Normal University and the former Wenzhou University. It has a history of 88 years. Academician Gu Chaohao, winner of the highest national science and technology award, is the principal. This school belongs to a university.

School strength

The school has 1 authorized point for doctoral degree in first-class discipline, 18 authorized point for master degree in first-class discipline and 17 authorized point for master degree. Ruian Graduate School of Wenzhou University and Zhejiang Post-doctoral Workstation were established, and doctors and post-doctors were jointly trained with 24 well-known universities and scientific research institutions at home and abroad.

Ecology is the dominant discipline in Zhejiang Province. Nine disciplines, including chemistry, Chinese language and literature, electrical engineering, law, Marxist theory, applied economics, mechanical engineering, ecology and civil engineering, are the first-class disciplines in Zhejiang Province, and four disciplines, including chemistry, materials science, engineering and computer science, are ranked in the top of ESI 1%.
