Shandong University, located in Jinan City, Shandong Province, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). Under the system of deputy ministerial level directly under the central government, it is ranked as a world-class university (Class A), 985 Project and 21/project.

This school is the origin university of modern higher education in China. The main body is Shandong University Hall founded by 190 1, which is the second national university founded by China after Shi Jing University Hall. Its medical discipline originated from 1864, which opened modern higher medical education in China.

Since its birth, the school has experienced several historical development periods, such as Shandong University Hall, National Qingdao University, National Shandong University, Shandong University and the new Shandong University formed by the merger of former Shandong University, Shandong Medical University and Shandong Polytechnic University.
