Southwest University of Political Science and Law is located in Chongqing, a famous historical and cultural city and the only municipality directly under the central government in the central and western regions. It is the earliest institution of higher learning in politics and law in New China, and the first batch of national key universities determined by the State Council after the reform and opening up.
The school has three campuses: Shapingba Campus, Yubei Campus and Baoshenghu Campus, covering an area of more than 3,000 mu. Among them, Yubei Campus is an undergraduate and postgraduate education and teaching center, Shapingba Campus is a base for continuing education and cadre training, and Baoshenghu Campus is a base for scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship. At present, there are more than 23,000 students and more than 2,000 faculty members.
There are 28 undergraduate majors in the school, including 6 national first-class undergraduate majors in law, journalism, politics and administration, ideological and political education, radio and television, and administration, and 9 provincial first-class undergraduate majors.
Adhering to the international development strategy, the school has established exchange and cooperation relations with more than 80 universities or institutions in nearly 40 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, and carried out more than 20 student exchange programs in/kloc-0.
Selected by the Ministry of Education's "Excellent Undergraduate International Exchange Program" and "National Public Postgraduate Program for Building High-level Universities", and selected by Chongqing International Characteristic Engineering Construction University and "Bayu Overseas Talents Introduction Program".
More than 30 short-term academic courses for international students in China have been held in cooperation with famous universities in the United States, Russia, Canada, Germany, France, Britain, Japan, Australia, Belgium and Israel. At present, there are two Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, namely, the undergraduate education of law in Coventry University in the United Kingdom and the master of law program in case western reserve university in the United States.
It is the only university in the west that undertakes the double-degree program of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools of law. The school's academic education for studying in China covers three levels: undergraduate, master and doctor. It has launched a series of brand projects of "Studying in Western Politics", such as the ASEAN elite doctoral program, the "China Law" master program in English, and the "2+2" project of Sino-Cambodian overseas cooperation in running schools.
20 18 12 the Ministry of education and the Chongqing municipal people's government signed an opinion on accelerating the construction of first-class universities and first-class disciplines, emphasizing the need to "continue to implement the opinions of the Ministry of education and the Chongqing municipal people's government on the construction of southwest university of political science and law."
