The School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing University has research institutions such as Foreign Literature Institute, Translation Institute, Spoken English Institute and Bilingual Dictionary Research Center. It conducts comprehensive and in-depth research in the fields of foreign literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, foreign culture, translation and bilingual lexicography. In recent years, Foreign Languages Institute has undertaken more than 30 national and provincial social science research fund projects, published many papers in academic journals at home and abroad, and published a large number of monographs, textbooks, translations and dictionaries. Many achievements have won the National Teaching Achievement Award, the Excellent Textbook Award of the State Education Commission, the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Humanities and Social Sciences of the State Education Commission, the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Philosophy and Social Sciences of Jiangsu Province, and the National Outstanding Foreign Language Book Award. The New Age English-Chinese Dictionary compiled by the Bilingual Dictionary Research Center is an original bilingual dictionary independently compiled by Chinese scholars, and its examples are basically selected from the English language database jointly developed by Nanjing University and the Commercial Press. Contemporary Foreign Literature is the core periodical edited and published by the Institute of Foreign Literature relying on various professional forces, and it is one of the few high-quality academic journals of foreign literature research sponsored by universities in China.
