Professor Levin was born in San Francisco, California, on the west coast of the United States. 1968 obtained a bachelor's degree in history from Stanford University, and then studied political science and philosophy at Oxford University and obtained a master's degree. From 65438 to 0974, he obtained a doctorate in economics from Yale University, and then stayed as an economics professor. Professor Levin has been engaged in teaching, research and management for 20 years. Before becoming the president of Yale University, he was the head of the Department of Economics of Yale University and the dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

Professor Levin is an expert in the economics of technological change, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a member of the National Committee on Science, Technology and Economic Policy. President Levin actively supports the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and American educational circles and has made efforts to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
