Engineering cost specialty is the brand specialty of this school, and it is the construction point of characteristic specialty in colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province. In 2005, the course "Construction Engineering Cost" won the second-class excellent course in colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province, the teaching material "Engineering Cost" was selected as the excellent teaching material in colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province in 2007, and the course "Engineering Cost" won the excellent course in colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province in 2009. In the Jiangsu Young Teachers' Mechanics Lecture Competition, two teachers in our college won the second and third prizes respectively. In the 4th Young Teachers' Speech Contest of Engineering Basic Mechanics in Jiangsu Province, a teacher won the first prize in the Undergraduate Speech Contest of Material Mechanics and the Excellent Prize in the National Young Teachers' Speech Contest of Mechanics. In the selection organized by China Educational Technology Society, the design of a course practical teaching scheme won the second prize in the first national practical teaching scheme design competition, the soil mechanics teaching courseware won the second prize in the first national multimedia teaching courseware competition for civil engineering majors in colleges and universities, two course courseware won the first prize in the national architectural multimedia courseware competition, and 1 work won the first prize in the selection organized by China Educators Association.
The college pays attention to the cultivation of students' comprehensive quality and innovative ability. Many times, students were organized to visit the exhibition hall of East China Geological Survey, the underground command center of Xuzhou Civil Defense Office and some civil air defense projects, the popular science education base of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction in Jiangsu Province, the structural test center of Southeast University, Wang Jie Memorial Hall and other units. In order to strengthen the patriotism education for students, our college has established a practice base for patriotism education in Wang Jieyuan Company. Through theme education activities, we have educated students to learn the glorious tradition and selfless dedication of the China People's Liberation Army, and the revolutionary spirit of Wang Jie martyrs, "One is not afraid of suffering, and the other is not afraid of death", and strive to serve the motherland. As a popular science education base and volunteer post station for earthquake prevention and disaster reduction in Xuzhou City, in order to implement the newly revised People's Republic of China (PRC) Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction Law and in accordance with the requirements of the Notice of the Municipal Government Office on Organizing Centralized Publicity Activities for Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction Day, the College of Civil Engineering has earnestly carried out a series of popular science publicity activities for earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, and a volunteer team for earthquake prevention and disaster reduction has been formed by student volunteers. By making publicity boards and distributing leaflets, we use our professional knowledge to publicize the knowledge about earthquakes to the general public, so that they can know how to save themselves in the earthquake, which has played a good role in arousing more attention from all walks of life to earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, further improving the scientific quality of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction for the whole people, and constantly enhancing the ability to resist earthquake disasters, creating a good environment for improving the earthquake resistance and building a harmonious society in our city. Six students in our college were awarded outstanding student cadres in Jiangsu Province, eight students were awarded "Three Good Students" in Jiangsu Province, two classes were collectively awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Class in Jiangsu Province", three teachers were awarded excellent social practice instructors in Jiangsu Province, three teachers were awarded excellent social practice instructors in Xuzhou City, and two students were awarded advanced individuals in Xuzhou City in summer.

Lianyungang Architectural Design Institute Co., Ltd. funded the innovative training program for college students of Civil Engineering College. As the Subei Workstation of China Building Decoration Association (awarded as an excellent professional unit in China building decoration industry), the pre-job training base of national registered cost engineers, the training base of engineering cost editing in Jiangsu Province, the continuing education base of construction system in Subei, the continuing education and training institution of builders in the construction industry in the whole province, and the "professional ability" training practice base of China Building Decoration Association, it provides help for students to obtain professional qualifications and employment.
