Rona Frish was born in Oslo 1895. The elders hoped that he could inherit the family business, so Frish was sent to the famous local David Andersen workshop as an apprentice when he was a teenager. But in the long run, his mother thinks that Frish should go to university to study knowledge. They carefully consulted the course catalogue of the University of Oslo and thought that the course of Economics was "the shortest and the least difficult", so they chose this major. Therefore, Frish studied at the University of Oslo while working as an apprentice. He graduated from this university 19 19. The following year, he obtained a craftsman certificate. Soon after, he went to France and England to study economics and mathematics. After returning to the motherland, he decided to continue his academic research despite the business difficulties at home. 1926 received a doctorate in mathematical statistics from the University of Oslo. There, he cooperated with other economists interested in the application of mathematics and statistics in economics, including Irving Fisher, wesley clair mitchell, Arlene Young and Henri Schultz. He published a paper, which analyzed the role of investment and explained the phenomenon of economic fluctuation.

Later, Frish's sponsorship period was extended so that he could visit Italy and France, but a year later, because of his father's death, he returned to Norway. He spent a year cleaning up his father's workshop and returned to Oslo University as an associate professor of statistics and economics on 1928.
