Hefei University of Technology is a national key university directly under the people of China and the Ministry of Education. It is jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Anhui Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. It is a national "world-class discipline construction university", a national "21project" and a national "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform". Selected into the national "20 1 1 plan", "11plan", outstanding engineer education and training plan, national college students' innovation experiment plan and national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan.

The school was founded in 1945, and changed its name to Hefei University of Technology in 1958. 1960, * * * was approved by the central government as a national key university. After the merger and reorganization with Anhui Institute of Technology and Anhui Institute of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, it successively belonged to the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Ministry of Mechanical and Electronic Industry and the Ministry of Education.
