Jilin Jianzhu University, formerly known as Changchun Urban Construction Engineering School, was founded by 1956 Urban Construction Department. It is the first secondary specialized school in civil engineering in Jilin Province and one of the first ten specialized schools in architecture in New China. 1960 was upgraded to an undergraduate college, and "Jilin Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture" was formally established, becoming the only civil engineering undergraduate college in Jilin Province.
