Wuhan University, referred to as "Wu Da" for short, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and the first batch of "double-first-class" universities in China, with 985 Project and 21project as key construction universities.
Wuhan University of Technology is the first batch of national key universities directly under the Ministry of Education listed in the national "2 1 1 Project", but it does not belong to the 985 Project.
2. History is different
Wuhan University can be traced back to 1893, when Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang, founded the School of Self-improvement in Wuchang. After inheritance and evolution, it was named National Wuhan University in 1928, and now it is called 1949. In 2000, Wuhan University merged with Wuhan University of Water Resources and Electric Power, Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping and Hubei Medical University to form the new Wuhan University.
Wuhan University of Technology originated from 1948 China People's Liberation Army Northeast Military Region Ministry of Industry Professional School. After adjustment and merger, it was renamed Wuhan University of Technology on 1985, and the school was merged from Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan Jiaotong University and Wuhan University of Automotive Technology on May 27th, 2000.

Wuhan University ranks 257th among the 2020QS world universities. There are 5 national key first-class disciplines, 17 national key two disciplines, 6 national key (training) disciplines, 46 first-class disciplines with the right to confer doctoral degrees, 57 first-class disciplines with the right to confer master's degrees, 42 postdoctoral mobile stations and 3 first-class hospitals.
Wuhan University of Technology has 9 first-class doctoral programs 19, 46 first-class master programs and 7 postdoctoral research stations 17. Master's degree authorization category 16, 40 master's degree authorization fields.
4. The campus environment is different
Wuhan University covers an area of 5 195 mu with a building area of 2.66 million square meters. As one of the oldest universities in China, Wuhan University is known as "the most beautiful university campus in China", and 26 early buildings on the campus are listed as "national key cultural relics protection units".
Wuhan University of Technology has three campuses, covering an area of nearly 4,000 mu, with a total construction area of1745,900 square meters.

The campus of Wuhan University is most famous for cherry blossoms, including cherry blossom castle, cherry blossom avenue, cherry blossom top, Luojia Square and other related attractions. Every year in the middle of March in bloom, when cherry blossoms are in full bloom, Wuhan University campus attracts millions of tourists from all over the country to enjoy the flowers. There are more than 800 species of seed plants belonging to 558 genera in the campus, including rare and endangered plants 10 family, rare and endangered plants 17 species and ancient and famous trees 13 plants.

Wuhan University is surrounded by East Lake and located on Luojia Mountain. Palace-style early buildings on campus, which combine Chinese and western styles, are simple, elegant and magnificent, and can be called "the masterpiece and model of modern China University campus architecture". A number of early buildings (groups) of Wuhan University have been listed as "national key cultural relics protection units" by the State Council.
