Shaoguan University is a full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education, which integrates eleven disciplines, including science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, literature, law, history, economics, management, teaching and art. It is a comprehensive application-oriented undergraduate college, a pilot unit for comprehensive internationalization reform of local universities, and a Chinese cultural heritage base.

Shaoguan College, formerly known as Shaoguan Teachers College, was founded in July 1958. 1In July 1989, Shaoguan Teachers College merged with Shaoguan University organized by Shaoguan Municipal People's Government, and 1990 was named Shaoguan University in February.
