University of Science and Technology Liaoning is a provincial undergraduate college, which was founded in 1948 as a junior college of Xinhua Middle School in Anshan City, established Anshan Institute of Technology in 1949, changed to Anshan Branch of Northeast Institute of Technology in 1950, upgraded to Anshan Iron and Steel Institute at undergraduate level, and 1998 was transferred to Liaoning Province by the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. Approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Anshan University of Science and Technology in 2002 and Liaoning University of Science and Technology in 2006. Since its establishment more than 70 years ago, the school has developed into a multi-disciplinary university with engineering as the mainstay and coordinated development of science, literature, economics, management, law and art, with specialties: metallurgical engineering, mechanical design and manufacturing and its automation, energy and power engineering.
