Hainan University is a comprehensive key university which was merged from South China University of Tropical Agriculture and Hainan University in August 2007. It is a university jointly established by Hainan Provincial People's Government, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance, and it is also a university jointly established by Ministry of Education and Hainan Provincial People's Government.
The school has four campuses, Haidian, Danzhou, Chengxi and Guanlan Lake (under construction), covering an area of 5 160 mu. At present, there are more than 3,570 teaching and administrative staff, including 378 full-time teachers and 6 15 deputy senior teachers, accounting for 36% of teachers with doctoral degrees and 322 teachers with one-year overseas visiting experience. At present, there are nearly 38,000 full-time students, including 33,000 undergraduates and 4,395 graduate students.
