Fuzhou University is a national "double-class" construction university, the national "2 1 1 project" key construction university, the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education jointly build the university, and the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the National Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense jointly build the university. Founded in 1958, the school has developed into a key university that combines engineering and science, and has a coordinated development of science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law and art.

The school implements the strategy of "standing at the top of the world" in scientific and technological innovation, with national university science park 1 one, national 12 and provincial 120 scientific and technological innovation platforms, including national key laboratory 1 one, national engineering research center 8, national international scientific and technological cooperation base 3 and key laboratory of Ministry of Education 3.

The school has carried out in-depth foreign cooperation and exchanges, established cooperative relations with Tsinghua University, Peking University, China Renmin University, Tianjin University and Fujian Institute of Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and established cooperative relations with more than 40 universities, scientific research institutions and well-known enterprises in 49 foreign countries and regions.
