Comparison between the Old and New School Emblems in Peking University
The emblem of the new school is in the shape of a double circle. The word "PEKINGUNIVERSITY" in the center of the emblem consists of three figures, with the word "Peking University" in capital at the top and the symmetrical outer ring "1898" arranged up and down at the bottom.

However, the old school emblem is black, with only a humanoid pattern consisting of the word "PEKINGUNIVERSITY", without a double circle shape, without the capital "Peking University" or the words "1898".

Old and new school emblem

The emblem of Peking University was designed by Lu Xun in August 19 17. The two seal characters of "Peking University" are arranged up and down, in which "North Character" constitutes two back-to-back side statues and "Big Character" constitutes a front statue. The school emblem highlights a school-running concept, that is, the university should be "people-oriented". Universities are big because there are masters and also because there are college students. It is also said that students are above, teachers are below, and teachers are willing to be ladders; Students standing on the shoulders of giants want shine on you to be better than blue. Its design forms a circle with the word "Peking University" in seal script, which is convenient for making round badges. Ingeniously, the word "big" below looks like one person, and the word "north" above looks like two people, thus forming the image of "three people make a group". It is also like a person carrying two people, giving people the imagination that "Peking University people have a heavy responsibility on their shoulders". In terms of artistic treatment, this badge has simple composition, smooth and regular lines and rich meanings.

Lu Xun, designer of Peking University emblem

The school emblem designed by Lu Xun was used until the eve of the founding of New China, but it was abandoned for a long time due to historical reasons and was not reused until the 1980s.

The emblem of Peking University that you see now is a revised version in June 2007. Peking University's new school emblem is "Beidahong". According to the Articles of Association of Peking University issued by Peking University in September 20 14, the school emblem is explained as follows:

The school emblem is in the shape of a double circle, and the word "PEKINGUNIVERSITY" in the center of the emblem consists of three figures, with the word "Peking University" above the vertically symmetrical outer ring and the word "1898" below.
