The predecessor of Guangxi University: 1928 Guangxi University was founded in Wuzhou, and 1939 became the national Guangxi University. 1950 merged with Nanning normal university, 195 1 merged with Xijiang college. 1952, President Mao Zedong personally wrote the name of Guangxi University. In the same year, the Agricultural College of Guangxi University became an independent Guangxi Agricultural College.

1953, when the departments of colleges and universities in China were adjusted, the teachers and students, disciplines, majors, equipment and books of Guangxi University were adjusted to 19, which made great contributions and sacrifices to the development of higher education in new China. 1958, Chairman Mao approved the restoration and reconstruction of Guangxi University. 196 1 year, Guangxi Institute of Technology and Guangxi Institute of Science and Technology merged into Guangxi University.

1962, Guangxi Forestry College was merged into Guangxi Agricultural College. 65438-0970, Guangxi University of Labor was merged into Guangxi Agricultural College. 1992, Guangxi Agricultural College was renamed Guangxi Agricultural University. 65438-0997, Guangxi University and Guangxi Agricultural University merged to form a new Guangxi University.
