West China Normal University, referred to as "West China Normal University", is located in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. It is a key university in Sichuan Province, the first normal university in Sichuan Province, the first batch of authorized units for bachelor's and master's degrees in China, the first batch of colleges and universities for training free normal students in Sichuan Province, the first "Selected Graduates Base for Excellent College Students in Sichuan Province" in Sichuan Province, and the authorized construction unit for doctoral degrees in Sichuan Province.
The school was founded in 1946, and its birth has a direct historical origin with Northeastern University. In the early days of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Northeastern University moved to Santai County, Sichuan Province. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Northeastern University moved back to Shenyang, and teachers and students from Liuchuan founded the North Sichuan College of Agriculture and Industry at the original site. 1949, Xishan College was absorbed and renamed as North Sichuan University; 1950 merged with North Sichuan College of Literature and moved to Nanchong City.
