Central South University of Forestry and Technology (hereinafter referred to as Central South University of Forestry and Technology) is a provincial-level university approved by the State Forestry and Grassland Bureau and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. It is a national "Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in the Midwest" and a "First-class University in China" in Hunan Province. ? The school is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province. At present, the motto of Wang Hanqing, secretary of the Party Committee of the school, and Wu Yiqiang, president of the school, is "being realistic and innovative, planting trees and educating people".

By September, 2022, the campus area is 1388 mu, with 2,337 faculty members. There are graduate schools and 24 teaching units, 6 first-level disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees, 20 first-level disciplines authorized by master degrees, 16 categories authorized by master degrees, and 5 post-doctoral research stations. One of the school's predecessors was Hunan Forestry College, which was established in Changsha by 1958. From 65438 to 0963, Hunan Forestry College moved to Guangzhou and merged with the Forestry Department of South China Agricultural University (now South China Agricultural University) to form Central South Forestry College. 1974, the school moved from Guangzhou to Xupu County, Hunan Province, and was renamed Hunan Forestry College. In 2005, it was renamed Central South University of Forestry and Technology.

By 2022, Central South University of Forestry and Technology ranked 22nd1in China University of Soft Science 2022.
