Peking University Institute of Earth and Space Sciences was formally established on 200/KLOC-0 101October 26th. The newly established School of Earth and Space Sciences consists of the former Peking University Geology Department, Geophysics Solid Geophysics Department, Space Physics Department, Peking University Institute of Remote Sensing and GIS Department of Urban and Environment Department.
The newly established Peking University Institute of Earth and Space Sciences has five undergraduate majors (geology, geochemistry, solid geophysics, space science and technology, and geographic information system), three first-class doctoral and master's degree authorization points, and four post-doctoral mobile stations in geology, geophysics, geography and surveying.
Peking University College of Earth and Space Sciences was established on the basis of several departments with excellent academic and teaching traditions and brilliant achievements in earth science-related fields. It will adhere to the fine traditions, pay attention to its own development conditions, give full play to the advantages of interdisciplinary and comprehensive disciplines, and realize the strong alliance and the reorganization and optimal allocation of teaching and scientific research resources.
