Can excessive dieting and weight loss lead to intestinal aging?
Doctors in digestive clinics of some hospitals in Wuhan found that unscientific weight loss and irregular life are making the intestines of many young women aging ahead of schedule, and the phenomenon of "20-year-old, 50-year-old intestines" is increasing.

A female college student in her twenties started drinking slimming tea six months ago because she was a little overweight. Two months later, I lost weight, but I was often constipated. I have to take laxatives to be "normal" Recently, someone said that she was dull, emaciated and typical of malnutrition. She went to Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital for examination and found that the intestinal function had deteriorated. Wang Xiaojun, deputy chief physician of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital, said after testing her intestinal function that because of excessive weight loss and dieting, her intestinal beneficial flora was unbalanced and her absorption function was impaired, which led to her "intestinal age" similar to that of a 50-year-old person, and her gloomy face was the most direct manifestation.

Wang Xiaojun introduced that there is little difference between the "intestinal age" and the physiological age of normal people. However, with the increase of age, the stress of life and work increases, and the mental stress increases. Improper diet reduces the number of beneficial bacteria in the intestine, while increases the number of harmful bacteria, which eventually leads to imbalance of intestinal flora and "aging" of intestinal function.

In the outpatient department of gastroenterology in some hospitals in Wuhan, young women who treat constipation account for half, and a considerable part of them are aging of intestinal function. Wang Xiaojun said that the gastrointestinal tract is an important organ for digestion and absorption, and its peristalsis is regular. Many young people are partial to food, go on excessive diets, lose weight unscientific, drink, smoke and stay up late. These unruly lifestyles have brought great burden and stimulation to the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in their "intestinal age" greatly exceeding their actual age.

Common diseases after intestinal function aging include acute and chronic diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and so on. Long-term illness will lead to dull skin color and increased wrinkles, making people look old. Wang Xiaojun said that in recent years, the aging trend of urban young people caused by the aging of intestinal function is very obvious. He reminded that the scientific way to lose weight is to exercise properly while controlling the intake of carbohydrates and high fat. Young women should be cautious about dieting, drinking slimming tea and sticking their feet to lose weight.
