In the early days of its establishment, Changchun Automobile Industry School was established by the state for the preparation of China No.1 Automobile Factory. It has experienced the development stages of Changchun Institute of Technology, Jilin Institute of Technology and Jilin Institute of Technology. Jilin Institute of Technology and Jilin University of Technology merged in June 1970, 10 resumed studies 1978. In September 2000, Changchun Coal Industry School, Changchun Coal Management Cadre College and Jilin Light Industry Design School merged. In March 2002, it was renamed Changchun University of Technology.

Liuzhou Senior Industrial School (Mechanical Department) was merged into Changchun Automobile Manufacturing School of the First Ministry of Mechanical Industry of the Central Committee.
