1. As far as its concept is concerned, "holistic education" is a new educational concept, which integrates the previous two educational views of "society-oriented" and "people-oriented" and forms a new educational concept that attaches importance to both social value and human value. This is an ideal educational idea and an ideal pursuit of Chinese and foreign educators. Cai Yuanpei, a famous educator and former president of Peking University, pointed out: "Education is to help the educated develop their own abilities, improve their personality and do their part for human culture." Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan Province Province has been advocating the school-running philosophy of "cultivating free thinking, attaching importance to responsibility ethics and adhering to holistic education" for many years. As far as its connotation is concerned, "holistic education" is first and foremost an education for people; Second, the education of imparting knowledge; The third is to develop the mind harmoniously and form a sound personality education. In a sense, holistic education is to cultivate "holistic" or "perfect" education. As far as its educational purpose is concerned, "holistic education" defines the educational goal as: promoting the all-round development of students on the basis of sound personality, so that the potential of individual life can be developed freely, fully, comprehensively, harmoniously and continuously. In short, the purpose of holistic education is to cultivate students' morality, knowledge, ability and harmony.
2. The connotation of holistic education is very rich, and for this reason, the definition of holistic education in academic circles is still inconclusive. Since the 1980s, there have been many periodicals and works on holistic education in western academic circles. RonMiller, an American, is the first person to put forward "holistic education" in the modern sense. He founded the "All-round Education Publishing House" and published the "All-round Education Review" (later, it was "Confrontation: Education Seeking the Meaning of Life and Social Justice"). Ontario Institute of Education (OISE), led by Canadian jonny miller, has made great achievements in holistic education courses, including its representative works. The research on holistic education in Britain and Australia has also developed rapidly. Japanese educator Ogara Guofang proposed that an ideal education should include all human cultures, and an ideal person should be a complete person with all human cultures, that is, to cultivate people with all-round development of truth (knowledge), goodness (morality), beauty (art), holiness (religion), health (body) and wealth (life).
