Northeastern University was founded in April 1923. 1August, 928 to1June, 937, General Zhang Xueliang was the principal. 1in March, 949, Shenyang Institute of Technology was established on the basis of (part of) Engineering College and Science College of Northeastern University;

1August, 950, named Northeast Institute of Technology. 1960 10, the school was identified as a national key university by the central government. /kloc-0 changed its name to northeastern university in March, 1993. 1997 1, the former Shenyang Gold Institute was merged into Northeastern University.
