Henan Library was built in 1909 (the year of Xuantongyuan in Qing Dynasty). It is the earliest public library in Henan Province and one of the earliest public libraries established in China. The original site of Henan Library is Xugong Temple on Lake Long Ting in Kaifeng City. 1957 moved from Kaifeng to Zhengzhou, and a new museum was built on Yousheng North Road in Zhengzhou, which was completed and opened on 1958. 1in April, 1982, the people's government of Henan Province approved the construction of a new provincial key project, with an appropriation of1680,000 yuan. The main project of the new building was completed at the end of 1988, and officially received readers on September 28th, 989.
Henan Library is a comprehensive public library established by the state, an important part of Henan's science, education and cultural undertakings, and the information center with the most concentrated literature. By the end of 2000, there were more than 25 1 0,000 books in the province, including 1 0.6 million books in Chinese and foreign languages, more than 200,000 newspapers and periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages, more than 1,000 audio-visual documents, more than 0,000 microfilmed books10.6 million books and more than 700,000 ancient books.
