Zhou Guangren, the first pianist to win an international competition in China, a tenured professor at the Central Conservatory of Music, the most influential and authoritative pianist and educator in China today, and one of the most outstanding women in China in the 20th century, is regarded as the soul of piano education in China.

Mr. Zhou Guangren loves piano education, has taught in the Central Conservatory of Music for more than 40 years, and was the director of the piano department. She combined her excellent artistic practice with profound theoretical accomplishment and became a generation of piano educators. She directly trained and educated more than 300 professional piano talents, and many of her students won numerous awards in important international and domestic competitions, including Pang Bo, Sheng Yuan, Liu Ning, Wang Xiaohan and other famous young pianists in China.

For more than 20 years, Mr. Zhou Guangren has regarded the piano popularization education as his highest pursuit in his life, devoted all his efforts and became a famous promoter of the development of piano popularization education at home and abroad. She has given lectures at 29 universities in the United States and held 44 solo concerts in succession. She has been invited as a judge of major international piano competitions in Europe and America for more than 20 times. She participated in the establishment of the high-level, authoritative and international China International Piano Competition, and served as the chairman of the judges, making it one of the most authoritative international competitions in China and significantly improving the international status of China music.

Mr. Zhou Guangren founded two piano schools for children in 1980s, and trained more than 1000 piano children with development potential. He has organized many national professional and amateur piano competitions for young people and served as the chairman of the jury, introducing many outstanding piano talents; He presided over the China Amateur Piano Examination, personally selected the examination courses, and served as the director of the National Piano Examination Expert Committee, which greatly promoted the popularization and development of piano education.

Mr Zhou Guangren learned to be a teacher, and his behavior is exemplary. He has successively won the National May 1st Labor Medal, the Baosteel Excellent Teacher Special Award, the Old Professor's Contribution Award to Rejuvenating the Country through Science and Education, and the Central Conservatory of Music Outstanding Contribution Award. She was selected into the Who's Who of Women in the Century of Cambridge International Biography Center, England, and was awarded the honorary titles of advanced worker and national outstanding educator.
