What is MPA?
According to Professor Zhu Liyan, director of the administrative department of the National People's Congress, MPA is the abbreviation of MasterofpublicAdministrafion. 1924 Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, USA, founded this major for the first time, with a history of more than half a century. It is understood that six presidents in American history have received MPA education, and other politicians like former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and former Mexican President have received similar education at Harvard University. Now, it has become popular in Europe and other countries. MPA, MBA (Master of Business Administration) and Master of Law have become the three pillars of liberal arts vocational postgraduate education in Europe and America.
Ji Baocheng, the first deputy director of the National MPA Education Steering Committee and president of China Renmin University, said that the goal of MPA is to train applied and senior professionals in public affairs, public management and policy research in government and non-government public institutions. The purpose of introducing and popularizing MPA education in China is to improve the civil servant education system and build and bring up a first-class national civil servant team with high quality, professionalism, honesty, diligence, pragmatism and efficiency. Training civil servants of government agencies, managerial talents of other public sectors and professionals who conduct policy analysis for the future development of China.
