Guangxi Art College is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is one of seven comprehensive undergraduate art colleges in China.
The school was established in 1938. Its predecessor was the "Training Course for Art Teachers of National Basic Schools in Guangxi Provincial Capital" initiated by famous Chinese musician Man, modern outstanding painter, art educator Xu Beihong and famous composer and music educator Wu Bochao in Guilin 1938.
1960 changed its name to Guangxi Arts Institute, and it was upgraded to a junior college. 1980 started postgraduate education, and 1990 became a master's degree awarding unit. The school is now a university jointly established by the Ministry of Culture and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, an excellent university for undergraduate teaching evaluation by the Ministry of Education, a university with Guangxi characteristics, a university jointly established by a doctoral unit in Guangxi, and a national university for basic capacity building in the central and western regions.
In the 80-year history of running a school, a group of well-known artists and art educators at home and abroad, such as Man, Xu Beihong, Wu Bochao, Yang Taiyang, Chen Yanqiao, Huang, Zhu, Lu and Li Zhishu, have worked hard in the school for a long time. They taught and educated people in Hong Wen, which laid a good foundation for the development of the school and accumulated a profound cultural heritage.
