Weifang, formerly known as Weizhou and Weixian, also known as Du Yuan, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province, a national second-class big city, and a regional central city of Shandong Peninsula urban agglomeration confirmed by the State Council. Located in the west of Shandong Peninsula, it is connected with Qingdao and Yantai in the east, Zibo and Dongying in the west, Linyi and Rizhao in the south and Laizhou Bay in the Bohai Sea in the north.

Weifang belongs to the north temperate monsoon region, with its back to the sea. Influenced by Eurasia and the Pacific Ocean, it has a continental climate with warm temperate monsoon and semi-humid climate, with a degree of continental formation of more than 50%. The strata in the territory are relatively developed, and the terrain forms several steps from north to south and from low to high. From west to east, there are five major rivers, Xiaoqing River, Mihe River, Bailang River, Weihe River and Beijiaolai River, all of which flow into the Bohai Sea.

Weifang is a world kite capital, a national environmental protection model city, a national health city, a national garden city, an excellent tourist city in China, an advanced city in science and technology, a national circular economy demonstration city, and won the China Habitat Environment Award. The climate belongs to the warm temperate plum wind type semi-humid continental climate, and the landform forms several steps from north to south and from low to high.

The terrain is high in the south and low in the north, mainly composed of hills, plains and coastal areas. Laizhou Bay in Bohai Sea is in the north, with a coastline of 1 13km. The urban area is plain, with almost no undulating terrain. Weifang has a total area of 1.6 million square kilometers, accounting for 10% of the total area of Shandong Province, ranking second in Shandong.
