Abstract: Multimedia technology is widely used in various fields of education and teaching with its rich pictures, characters, sounds and images, and has had a far-reaching impact. In this paper, the application forms, principles and shortcomings of multimedia technology in education and teaching are deeply studied, and the application forms and principles of multimedia technology in education and teaching are emphatically expounded, and the shortcomings and improvement measures in specific application are put forward.
With the rapid development and wide application of computer technology, multimedia technology is also developing vigorously. Its application has spread all over the national economy and social life, and brought great changes to human production, work and even lifestyle. In particular, multimedia has the comprehensive effect of pictures, words, sounds and images, and is more suitable for application in the process of education and teaching.
I. Overview of multimedia and multimedia technology
Multimedia is a combination of text, sound, graphics, images, animation and video. For example, in film and television animation, we can hear beautiful music, see exquisite pictures and enjoy fascinating and moving pictures.
Multimedia technology is a comprehensive technology with computer technology as the core, which displays text, sound, graphics, images, animation, video and other media information in a single or composite form through digital collection, compression, decompression, editing and storage of computer equipment. After the introduction of multimedia technology into classroom teaching, it has exerted great influence on traditional educational ideas, educational concepts, educational methods, educational models, educational contents, educational structures and educational evaluation. At present, with the rapid development of network technology, the combination of multimedia technology and network technology has been widely used in education.

1. Application form of multimedia technology in education and teaching

2. The application principles of multimedia technology in education and teaching.

(1) Timely. Teachers should establish the best starting point and seize the best opportunity when using multimedia technology in teaching. (2) appropriate. Appropriateness means that teachers use multimedia technology properly and express the content of teaching materials properly through multimedia. Secondly, although multimedia technology can combine images, words, sounds and videos to produce the best teaching effect, whether teachers can properly express the contents of teaching materials through multimedia still needs teachers to explore and accumulate experience in practice.

Although the application of multimedia technology provides a lot of convenience for teaching, there are still many unsatisfactory places in the actual application of education and teaching, such as over-reliance on multimedia, improper use, unreasonable design and excessive emphasis on form. Therefore, in view of this deficiency, the following suggestions are put forward:
1. Strengthen teacher training and improve teachers' ability to apply multimedia teaching. First of all, schools should strengthen the cultivation of teachers' modern educational ideas, let teachers master the functions and teaching theories of modern educational media, and organically integrate multimedia technology into classroom teaching. Secondly, schools should carry out educational technology training in a planned way to improve teachers' ability to use multimedia technology for teaching. Thirdly, schools should give full play to the role of educational technicians and let them develop teaching materials and software suitable for teaching characteristics together with professional teachers. Finally, the school should also formulate corresponding policies, establish reasonable multimedia and classroom teaching evaluation standards, and comprehensively evaluate teachers' teaching courseware and the level of using multimedia to lecture.
2. Pay attention to the leading role of teachers in the teaching process and improve communication between the two sides. The application of multimedia technology in classroom teaching is to improve the effect of classroom teaching. Whether a class is good or bad lies not in how many multimedia technologies are used, but in teachers, because teachers are the leaders and designers of the whole teaching process, and computer technology and multimedia technology are the auxiliary means to complete teaching tasks. Therefore, the proper application of computer technology and multimedia technology in the teaching process will not only weaken teachers' functions, but also put forward higher requirements for teachers, that is, they should have the ability to control computers and multimedia.
3. Reasonable design of multimedia courseware. The teaching resources needed for courseware making are often scattered, and teachers need to design a reasonable combination of multimedia resources such as words, images, audio and video to make it a complete classroom teaching system. Courseware production should change from general demonstration to interaction, such as the design of teachers' questions and electronic hands-up in software. In order to design as many high-quality exercises and various problem-solving methods as possible, teachers can immediately change the conditions of topic setting, help students better understand and master theoretical concepts and methods, and improve the interaction between teaching and learning.
4. Reasonable selection and use of multimedia. Not every teaching link can be realized by multimedia technology, and the more multimedia technology is used, the better. Everything should take service-oriented teaching as the starting point and destination. According to the teaching purpose, teaching content and teaching object, choose and use courseware reasonably to improve teaching efficiency. For example, the teaching of tourism aesthetics courses for tourism majors generally involves a large number of materials and examples. At this time, multimedia technologies such as projection and video tape can play a vivid and informative teaching effect. However, for art courses such as art design, in order to cultivate students' practical ability, teachers need to show them in person and ask students to practice. At this time, it is not suitable to use multimedia teaching.
5. Give full play to the advantages of multimedia teaching and pay attention to cultivating students' learning ability. With the development of modern economy and society, professional posts are constantly updated. Therefore, our education should be as pointed out in the UNESCO report "Learn to Live". Instead of cultivating people to stick to a job for life, we should cultivate the possibility of young people and adults constantly moving in their jobs and the desire to continue learning and receiving training? . In the teaching process, we should give full play to the advantages of modern teaching equipment and means such as multimedia, and make use of the characteristics of interactive learning of modern teaching means to cultivate students' ability of consciously learning, solving practical problems and creative thinking, so that students can consciously ask for learning.
