Shanghai Jianqiao University, located in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, is an applied, for-profit full-time private university with undergraduate education as the main body. It was selected as the national demonstration school of innovation and entrepreneurship education in private colleges and universities, the collaborative education project of industry-university cooperation of the Ministry of Education, and the comprehensive reform demonstration school of "three-round education" in Shanghai universities.
The school was founded on 1999 by a group of entrepreneurs who are enthusiastic about education and public welfare, such as Zhou Xingzeng, and was officially registered in June of the following year. In April, 20001,it was approved as "Private Shanghai Jianqiao Vocational and Technical College". In August 2003, the school was renamed as "Shanghai Jianqiao Vocational and Technical College", and in the same year it was listed as the construction unit of Shanghai model higher vocational colleges.
In September 2005, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and reported to the Ministry of Education for the record, it was agreed to establish Shanghai Jianqiao College on the basis of Shanghai Jianqiao Vocational and Technical College.
