The school was founded in 1939 as Chongshan Normal School in Guangxi Province, and has gone through the stages of Longzhou Normal School in Guangxi Province, Longzhou Normal School in Guangxi Province, No.2 Normal School in Nanning, Nanning Normal College and Nanning Normal College. In 2009, the school was officially approved by the Ministry of Education to be upgraded to an undergraduate college.
