The first-level discipline of Marxist theory was added in 2005 and belongs to the category of law. At present, there are six research directions: the basic principles of Marxism, the development history of Marxism, the study of Marxism in China, the study of Marxism abroad, ideological and political education, and the study of basic problems in modern history of China.

Marxism should be studied not only from philosophy, political economy and scientific socialism, but also as a whole, so as to fully grasp its scientific ideological system. The discipline of Marxist theory is the first-level discipline to study Marxism as a whole. It consists of Marxist philosophy under the first discipline of philosophy, political economy under the first discipline of theoretical economics, scientific socialism and international communist movement under the first discipline of political science, and the history of the Communist Party of China (including party building).

Marxist theory belongs to the philosophy major, and students are bachelor of law or master of law after graduation. Marxism is the abbreviation of Marxist theoretical system, and it is a theory about the complete liberation of the world proletariat and all mankind.

Marxism consists of Marxist philosophy, Marxist political economy and scientific socialism. It is a scientific system of proletarian ideology founded by Marx and Engels in the 1940s on the basis of critically inheriting and absorbing the outstanding achievements of human beings in natural science, thinking science and social science from 65438 to 2009, and continuously enriched, developed and perfected in practice.
