1. 1 Enhance the national defense awareness of college students

2 Current situation of national defense education for contemporary college students

Contemporary college students think that going to college is to lay a foundation for future work, so they are more willing to learn some more practical skills.
They hardly care about military knowledge and current news, and they don't know what national defense education contains. Most college students are quite resistant to joining the army. They think that two years of military life will be very hard and will have no impact on life. Only a small number of students are willing to join the army.
2.2 Teachers are relatively weak.
Although many colleges and universities in China have military research rooms, there are no full-time national defense education teachers in the research rooms. Although a few schools are equipped with full-time teachers, when teaching national defense education courses, teachers mostly take the form. The national defense education teachers in many schools are counselors. The full-time teachers in colleges and universities generally have the problem of low professional level. Most teachers are not military professionals and only take up their posts after relevant training. They have no effective way to acquire professional knowledge of national defense education, and their professional quality and concept are far from ideal.
2.3 organizational structure is not perfect
With the deepening of China's reform and development, all kinds of colleges and universities in China are constantly carrying out institutional reforms. At present, most colleges and universities have merged the Armed Forces Department and the Security Department, that is, these two departments are fully responsible for the security and stability of the school and give full play to their political advantages. However, under the background of enrollment expansion in colleges and universities, this traditional model leads to the problems of unclear division of labor and unclear responsibilities in national defense education in colleges and universities. National defense education is an educational activity, which is essentially different from the armed forces department and the security department. Then colleges and universities should improve their institutions and provide effective organizational guarantee for national defense education.
3. Effective countermeasures to improve college students' national defense education

Colleges and universities should establish special national defense education websites and various network platforms for students to learn national defense knowledge and information, so as to truly realize the scientific, informational and networked national defense education in colleges and universities. At the same time, give full play to the propaganda function of various campus media, regularly organize students to visit patriotic education bases, memorial halls and museums, and actively carry out various forms of school national defense education competitions such as war chess deduction, military competitions, knowledge competitions and red song competitions to enhance students' national defense awareness and continuously enrich their national defense knowledge.
